Norma L. Ballard

Norma L. Ballard, 98, of Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, September 25, 2018, in her son's home in Rock Island.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with The Rev. Michael Swartz officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the services. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory and burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association.

The former Norma Lillian Meyer was born March 24, 1920, in Quincy, Illinois, to Alfred and Bertha (Braun) Meyer. She married Ernest Edward Ballard on February 15, 1947, in Quincy. He died September 26, 2016. She was a member of First Congregational Church, Moline, Chapter BL of PEO Sisterhood, and Gyrette Club of Davenport. She was a genuine people person who loved all of life's events and enjoyed reading.

Norma is survived by three children and spouses, Bruce and Linda Ballard of Manhattan Beach, California, Gregory Ballard and Rebecca Kakavas of Rock Island, and Constance and Bradford Smith of Iowa City, Iowa; five grandchildren and spouses, Christina and Carl Gilchrist, Jacob and Kathryn Smith, Shawn and Stormy Ballard, Cody and Courtney Smith, and Colton and Haili Smith; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Robert Meyer.
