Noel Riceman, 67, of Sherrard, Illinois, died Thursday, January 18, 2007, in Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
At his request, no services will be held. Following cremation, burial will be in National Cemetery on Rock Island Arsenal. Friends are invited to honor him by planting a tree in his memory or making a donation to the Douglas Mitton Memorial Scholarship Fund at Black Hawk College. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is assisting the family.
Noel was born December 3, 1939, in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Ralph and Anna (Schachtsiek) Riceman. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired as Chief of Systems, Material Management Directorate, Army Weapons Command, in 1988. He was an avid fisherman and golfer.
Noel is survived by his wife, Jan; his daughter, Ann-Noelle Riceman of Rock Island; sisters and brothers and their spouses, Ronda and Arthur Staubach of Rock Island, Carol and Floyd Mitton of Moline, Sally and Larry True of East Moline, Robert and Marlene Riceman of Silsbee, Texas, Kenton and Bonnie Riceman of Naples, Florida, Gale and Judy Riceman of Englewood, Florida, and James and Sharon Riceman of Denver, Colorado; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Terry Skaggs and his wife, Bonnie, of East Moline, who was a more like a brother to him; and his former wife, Donna McCombs Brown of Rock Island. He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew, Douglas Mitton, and a niece, Judy Staubach Deisenroth.
