Nellie I. Gustafson

Nellie I. Gustafson, 89, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Sunday, September 11, 2016, in Hope Creek Care Center, Moline, East Moline.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, 1201 13th Street, Moline, with The Rev. Tim Gossett officiating. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.

The former Nellie Irene Pearson was born July 17, 1927, in Moline, to Carl Siegfried and Lucy Ellen (Thompson) Pearson. She married Russell Arthur Gustafson on November 29, 1947, in Moline. He died August 22, 2003. She was employed by Y & S Candies and Hersey Corporation in Moline for 42 years, retiring as supervisor in 1989. She previously worked at the LeClaire Hotel and New York Store in Moline. She was a member of Bethel Wesley Church, Thor Lodge of Vikings, and Y & S Years in Service Club.

Nellie is survived by a daughter, Tammy Loranger and her husband Dave of Silvis, Illinois; three step-daughters, Diane Lovell and Judy Gustafson, both of Moline, and Janice Nelson and her husband Butch of Silvis; ten grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a step-son, Richard Gustafson; sisters, Violet Hawotte and Betty Fuller; and a step-sister, Mary VanderHayden.
