Wilma E. Hasselberg, 79, of Davenport, Iowa, died Thursday, July 28, 2011, in Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline, with The Reverend Wilfred L. Karsten officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church.
The former Wilma Esther Herrala was born November 14, 1931, in Ishpenning, Michigan, the daughter of Erick and Maria Viinace Herrala. She married David Carl Hasselberg on August 23, 1952, in Greenville, South Carolina.
She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline, the Scott County Family YMCA, the Plus-60 Club, and the Eastern Iowa Polka Club. She enjoyed dancing, photography, and exercised religiously.
Wilma is survived by her husband, David, and sons, Stanley and Matthew Hasselberg, all of Davenport, and a sister, Alma Joki of Ishpenning, Michigan. She was preceded in death by a son, Martin Hasselberg, and 13 siblings.
