Michael W. O'Neill

Michael O’Neill, 85, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, July 4, 2022, in Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.

Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Moline, with The Rev. Flint Miller officiating. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery where Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Visitation is 4 – 6 p.m. Friday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.

Michael Warren O’Neill was born June 29, 1937, in Moline, to William Richard and Carol (Skoglund) O’Neill. He graduated from Moline High School in 1955, attended Black Hawk College, and served in the U.S. Navy. He married Donna Bernece Ziegler on September 12, 1959, in Moline. She died August 7, 2017. He retired from BankOne in Moline in 1998 as Vice President of Operations. He had been employed by the bank and its predecessors for 40 years.

He was a member and Trustee of First Baptist Church, Moline, and had been involved in Junior Achievement and Miss Moline Pageant. He enjoyed racquetball, woodworking, traveling with his wife in their RV, and camping and fishing especially with his grandchildren.

Mike is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Curt and Lisa O’Neill and Tim and Trudy O’Neill, all of Moline; five grandchildren and spouses, Danny and Danielle O’Neill, Amy and Evan Wendell, Kevin and Hailey O’Neill, Meagan and Jorge Cabrera, and Shawn and Molly O’Neill; three great-grandchildren, Bennett, Amalia, and Ellis O’Neill; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Patricia and Richard Haney of Moline, and Cathy Houghtaling of Rochester, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
