Michael R. Herington

Michael R. Herington, 71, of Milan, Illinois, died Friday, June 2, 2017, in his home.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory. Graveside services are Wednesday morning at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, by 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to process to the cemetery. Memorials may be made to Diabetes Foundation.

Michael Roy Herington was born May 9, 1946, in Rock Island, to Roy Edward and Naomi Burkhiser Herington. He graduated from Rock Island High School and Black Hawk College and served in the US Air Force. He married Barbara Jean Hughes on April 6, 1968, in Old Town, Maine. He was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service for 36 years, retiring in 2001. He enjoyed golf.

Mike is survived by his wife, Barbara; two children, Patricia Herington, and Jeffrey Herington and his wife Suzi, all of Milan; three grandchildren, Hunter Collins, Hope Collins, and Faith Herington; and siblings and spouses, Donna and Bob Ludwig of Rock Island and Steven and Amy Herington of Houston, Texas.
