Mercedes M. Molina

Mercedes Mary (Masias) Molina, 83, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, at 9:50 p.m. in Rosewood Care Center, Moline. The Rosary will be recited 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral Home, 701 12th Street, Moline, with visitation following until 8 p.m. Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline.

Mercedes was born on Sept. 24, 1932, in Silvis, IL, the daughter of Agapito and Epifania Masias. She was married to Augustin Molina, who preceded her in death. For many years she made flour tortillas for Guzzo's Meat Market, worked at the Rock Island Arsenal, Quad City Downs, Moline Public Hospital, and Kohls. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Curves, loved spending time with her grandkids, and enjoyed cooking and reading.

Mercedes will be deeply missed by her surviving children Victoria Molina, Theresa Salinas, Augustin and Carolyn Molina, Lolo and Catherine Molina, Gloria and Jose Campos, Susan and Pedro Padro, Lisa Rios, all of Moline, Jesse and Adriana Molina of Omaha. Mercedes was a loving mother and grandmother to nineteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and her sister Lupe Tapia of Moline. She was guardian for Marian, Pete, and John Uribe. She was preceded by her son, Edward "Sony" Molina; and siblings Jesse, John and Peter Masias, and Juanita Roldan.
