Mary M. Hood Pokrajac, 76, of East Moline, died, June 26, 2006, at Trinity At Terrace Park Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Services are Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Private interment will be in the Elvira Cemetery, Elvira, Iowa. Memorial donations may be made to the Youth Service Bureau or to Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf, Iowa.
The former Mary Margaret Lange was born November 8, 1929, the daughter of Arthur and Margaret Lange. She married Jack R. Hood on November 19, 1949, in Dubuque, Iowa, then married, Mike Pokrajac on March 24, 1998 in East Moline, Illinois. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1998. Mary recieved her MA in Education from the University of Iowa. She was employed by the Moline School District for over 41 years, 19 years as a teacher, and 22 years as a principal. After retiring Mary spent 10 years working as preplanning counselor for Trimble Funeral Homes. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Moline, and was formerly a member of many educational associations. Mary enjoyed traveling, boating, reading, and playing golf.
She is survived by her sister, Ann Zoller of Tulsa, Oklahoma, two nieces, Kristen Wood and Kimberly Wewers, three grand-nephews, Cameron and Nicholas Wood, and Jared Wewers, and a grand-niece, Chandler Wewers, all of Dallas, Texas metro area. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Margaret Lange, husband, Mike Pokrajac, brother, David A. Lange, and sister-in-law, Lucille Lange.
