Kewanee, Illinois Visitation for Mary Lou Weir of Kewanee, formerly of Coal Valley will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Trimble Funeral Home in Coal Valley. Private burial will be in the Coal Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the family. Mary Lou Weir, age 61 died, Monday, November 18, 2002 at Oakwood Nursing Home in Kewanee, Illinois. The former Mary Lou VanWassenhove was born June 11, 1941 in Kewanee, Illinois the daughter of Raymond and Nellie (Stricker) VanWassenhove. She married John Shipley, Sr. in 1963 in Kewanee. Leonard M. Weir on June 12, 1988 in Davenport, Iowa, he preceded her in death on December 10, 1997. Mary Lou was employed as a housekeeper at The Deck Plaza in Geneseo, Illinois retiring in 1988. She enjoyed; gardening, crafts, camping, music and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her mother, Nellie Ericson of Kewanee; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Dina Shipley, Jr. of Gray, Georgia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Ronald Newberry of Moline, and Mary Kay and Ray Strum of Tucson, Arizona; four step-children, Lynn Wirth, Starla Burlingham, Terry and Brdget Weir all of Kewanee, and Gail and Tim Johnson of Geneseo; seventeen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Joanne and Donald Barnes, and Louise and Keith Orr all of Kewanee, and Shirley and Terry Francine of Sheffield, Illinois; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Pat VanWassenhove of Kewanee; along with a special friend, Wally Anderson of Kewanee.
