Moline, Illinois Mary E. Bowman, 84, of Davenport, formerly of Moline, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2005, in Jersey Ridge Place, Davenport. Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Moline, Illinois. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Moline. The former Mary Elizabeth Moffitt was born August 31, 1920, in Harrisburg, Illinois, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Moffitt. She married Francis G. Bowman on September 28, 1946. She was a graduate of Southern Illinois University. She taught home economics at Tiskawa, Illinois, one year at Chaffey High School in Upland, California and one year at Wethersfield, Illinois. She taught at the elementary level for 23 years in the Moline School system. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Moline and taught children's Sunday school. She served as a member of the American Baptist Ministries, Christian Education, and Pastoral Relations and helped organize the churches prayer chain. She was a Cub Scout leader while living in Galva, 11. Mary was a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Illinois and served as president of the Blackhawk Unit of Rock Island. Survivors include her husband, Francis G. Bowman of Davenport and two sons, Philip Bowman of Moline, and Michael Bowman of Ft Lauderdale, FI.; granddaughters Catherine Stewart of Osseo, WI, and Jacqueline McGinnis of Sterling, IL; one grandson, Gabriel McGinnis; and three brothers and one sister.
