Martha G. “Marti” Smith

Martha G. “Marti” Smith, 46, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Monday, July 28, 2008, in her home.

Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at the Coal Valley Church of the Nazarene. Burial is in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley.

Marti was born November 4, 1961, in Moline, the daughter of Raymond and Louella (Clow) Smith. She attended Moline High School and graduated from Black Hawk College with a degree as a Registered Nurse. Prior to her disability, she worked at R & R Services in Rock Island, the Movie Gallery in Bettendorf and Milan, and provided home nursing care. She loved her daughter and grandchildren dearly, and enjoyed gardening and was proud of her roses.

Marti is survived by her mother, Louella Smith with whom she lived in Coal Valley; her father and step-mother, Raymond and Margaret Smith of Moline; her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Brian Hall of Virginia Beach, Virginia; four grandchildren, Sarah, Lauren, Kalyn and Leyna Hall; six siblings and their spouses, Lou and Dennis Heiman of Mediapolis, Iowa, Randy and Monica Smith of Rock Island, Amy and Mark McPeek of Stockton, Illinois, Jodi and Ted Robbins of Colona, Ray and Tammie Smith of Moline, and Sara and Brian McCartney of Fayetteville, North Carolina; 20 nieces and nephews; 19 great-nieces and great-nephews; and her best friend, Rhonda Newton of Aledo, Illinois.
