Milan, Illinois

Mark A. Kammerman, 59, of Milan, Illinois, joined his mother in heaven on Friday, October 3, 2014, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, after a ten-year battle with MS, surrounded by family and friends.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 1, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with The Reverend Garry Winstead officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Immediately following services, the family will host a hospitality gathering at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe. A celebration of Mark's life, hosted by friends, will continue afterwards at Jim's Knoxville Tap, Milan. Memorials may be made to any organization working on a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.

Mark was born July 19, 1955, at Moline Public Hospital, the son of Marvin Lee "Bud" and Edith Ruthea (Love) Kammerman. He graduated from Sherrard High School in 1973. He loved competing in high school sports, namely wrestling and football. He was on the All-Conference Team the year Sherrard football team went undefeated.

He married Susan Swinford, with whom he had a son, Casey. He was fortunate for a visit with his son and his family on August 31, 2014. He married Vicki Jobe, and they were later separated. Nick Jobe, Vicki's brother, was with Mark when he passed away, and was a good friend.

Mark and his brother, Tom, enjoyed working with Ray Pfitzenmaier, pruning Christmas trees on his farm in the New Boston area. He worked for a time at Pizza Hut, J.C. Penny's, Ralston Purina, Brandt Construction, Valley Construction, Missman-Stanley & Assoc., with his brother, Tom, on the layout crew for Tom Gapinski on I-88, the Ronald Reagan Memorial Highway, and with Vince Method Land Surveyor. He enjoyed his time working with Jimmy Rose Land Surveyor, who is now President of Ament, Inc. At Missman, Mark worked on footing layout for the Mark of the Quad Cities.

His last job was working for John, Jim, and Bill Hass with Valley Construction in Quality Control. He enjoyed his work there.

He was a member of Beulah Presbyterian Church for many years.

Mark loved the game of golf, playing with his dad, mom, brothers, and friends. He had a hole-in-one in Arizona. He also enjoyed fishing, pool with Pat Hohl, and hunting pheasant in Iowa with his dad, brothers, friends, and uncles.

Mark's caretakers, Wendy Gable, and Faith Beckhart and her two daughters, Chasity and Samantha, were truly angels of mercy. The family is thankful for the people that loved Mark and cared for him in his last days.

Mark is survived by his father, Bud, brothers and a sister-in-law, Tom and Roxanne Kammerman, Scott Kammerman, and Michael Kammerman, all of Milan; a son and daughter-in-law, Casey and Heather Kammerman of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and granddaughters, Porcha and Olivia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith; a brother, Charles Frederick, and brother at birth.
