Marjorie J. Carlson

Marjorie J. Carlson, 94, of Moline, Illinois, died at Illini Restorative Care in Silvis, Illinois, on Friday, June 28, 2019.

Services are 3:00PM Friday, July 5, at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Private burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Moline. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Riverside United Methodist Church or Animal Aid Humane Society.

Marjorie was born January 29, 1925, in Rock Island, Illinois, the third of five daughters of Spencer John and Lucy Louise Bush Anderson. She had fond memories of summer visits to her Grandma Bush's farm in Andalusia and playing with her sisters at Longview Park.

She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1943 and attended Augustana College. During World War II, she worked at the Rock Island Arsenal.

She was later employed at Carlson Brothers Stationers in Moline, where she met her future husband, Robert Edward Carlson. They were married on June 12, 1948, at Central Presbyterian Church in Rock Island.

Marjorie was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline, and participated in United Methodist Women, the Augustana Endowment Society, and Lend-a-Hand Kings' Daughters circle. She enjoyed genealogy and bicycle riding and was a dedicated Chicago Cubs fan and a loving Nana who always had time for her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Lisa (Eddis) Goodale of Evanston, Illinois, and Sarah (Vincent) Van Damme of Moline; five grandchildren, Joseph (Tirzah) Van Damme, Brent (Teal) Van Damme, Robin (Justin) Artman, Thomas Van Damme, and Meredith Goodale; five great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Rylee, Bentley, Russell, Clara and another on the way; and two sisters, Lucille Ghicadus of Montana, and Delores Parker of California. She was preceded in death by her husband and sisters, Marilyn Cope and Elizabeth Lawhorn.
