Marie L. Ringquist, 92, of Moline, died Monday, April 4, 2005, in her home.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, Moline, with The Reverend George Loveland officiating. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.
Miss Ringquist was born December 13, 1912, in Moline, the daughter of Carl John and Ella Victoria (Isaacson) Ringquist. She graduated from Western Illinois University and received her Masters Degree from the University of Iowa. She was a teacher in Moline Public Schools for 38 years, retiring as Supervisor of Art on 1977. She also taught art at the former Moline Community College.
Marie was a life-long member of Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 63 years and where she was very active. She was past president of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and the Illinois State Art Association, and a member of Moline Education Association, Illinois Education Association, National Education Association, and Blackhawk Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing, weaving, sculpting and painting. She traveled extensively toa lmost every state including Alaska and Hawaii, and to Europe.
Marie is survived by her twin sister, Anna (Anne) Ringquist, with whom she lived; a sister-in-law, June Ringquist of Grand Marais, Minnesota; nieces and nephews, Burt and Virginia Ringquist of Moline, John and Anne Ringquist of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Jim and Janet Ringquist of Grand Marais, Joy and Reid Horle of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Jean and Paul Moilien of Westby, Wisconsin, John and Betty Ringquist of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Marie Ringquist of East Moline; and many great-nieces and great-nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, John Wesley, LaVern, and Mauritz Ringquist, and two nephews, Delmar and Bruce Ringquist.
