Margaret M. Kennedy, 74, of Coal Valley died Sunday, April 3, at Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 7 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Coal Valley. The Reverend R. Michael Schaab will officiate. Burial will be in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 6, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center in Coal Valley. Memorials may be made to Heifer International, St. Jude?s Children?s Hospital or St. Maria Goretti Church.
Margaret was born June 19, 1930, in Baltimore, Maryland to John N. Paulus and Margaret Ellen Brooks Paulus. She attended the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, MD. She graduated from St. Joseph?s College in Emmitsburg, MD and was an active alumni member. She married Edwin J. Kennedy on September 6, 1952, in Baltimore. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1993.
Margaret was active in the former Moline Public Hospital Auxiliary and was a past member and president of the Mississippi River Valley Embroiders Guild. She was also an officer on the National Board of Embroiders Guild. She was known for her beautiful needle art, for which she received numerous awards and recognition. She was an active member of St. Maria Goretti Church in Coal Valley. In her later years, Margaret traveled extensively throughout the world. She enjoyed cooking, baking and entertaining in her home.
She is survived by five children and their spouses: Ed and Kendra Kennedy of Moline, Peggy and Frank Mason of Memphis TN, Patty and Rick Hudson of Columbus, GA, Eileen and Larry Hudson of Matamoras, PA and Michael and Cyndi Kennedy of Davenport and 15 grandchildren.
