Donial M. Shick, 56, of Moline, Illinois, well-known area sportsman, died suddenly Saturday, February 10, 2007, in his residence.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Donial M. Shick Memorial Fund which will be established by his family.
Donial Melvin Shick was born October 14, 1950, in Moline, the son of Donial Leroy and Dorothy Mae (Baker) Shick. He graduated from Moline High School and attended Black Hawk College. He married Merry Morey on April 26, 1975, in Rock Island. Don had been employed by KONE in Coal Valley for the past 19 years.
Sports was Don?s
life. He was active with the John Deere Classic for 32 years, and was currently Volunteer Grounds Chair. He was scorekeeper for Moline school district boys varsity basketball and girls sophomore basketball teams, coached football for 25 years, and was active in the Moline High School M-Mens Club. He was a strong supporter and volunteer at Arrowhead Ranch, and looked forward to the annual fishing trip to Canada with his close fishing buddies.
Don is survived by his wife, Merry; three children, Shelley Shick of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Scott and Josh Shick of Moline; his sister and brother-in-law, Karon and Kenneth Lundeen of Omaha, Nebraska; and a special cousin, Dorothy Burdick of Moline.
