Moline, Illinois Services for Lyle D. Monson, 83, of Moline, are 11 a.m. Thursday at Union Congregational Church, Moline. The Reverend Jack Michaelsen will officiate. Burial is in Petrie Cemetery, New Windsor, Illinois. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Memorials may be made to Union Congregational Church or Arrowhead Ranch. Mr. Monson died Sunday, December 8, 2002, while walking near his home. Lyle Delbert Monson was born August 3, 1919, in Henry County, Illinois, the son of William Bert and Della Shull Monson. He married Audrey Adams on March 26, 1946, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She died January 24, 1989. He married Mercedes O'Brien Anderson on May 5, 1990, in Wheaton, Illinois. He served in the Third Armored Division of the U. S. Army in the European Theater during WW II. He was employed by Deere and Company for 39 years, retiring from manufacturing management at John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, in 1980. He was a member of Moline American Legion Post #246, Moline VFW Post #2153, Moline Elks Lodge, and Moline Viking Lodge, was a former member of Junior Chamber of Commerce, and attended Union Congregational Church. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed playing cards. Lyle is survived by his wife, Mercedes; a sister, Doris Heino of Moline, two neices and their husbands, Peg and Ron Morris of Georgia and their family, and Elin Thomas and Mike Cooper of California; a nephew and his wife, Evan and Ann Thomas of Texas and their family; a step-son and his wife, Terry and Heidi Anderson of Wheaton, Illinois; and two step-grandchildren, Lucia and Nicholas Anderson.
