Louis Clark, Jr.

February 25, 1958 — January 18, 2021

Louis Clark, Jr., 62, of Davenport, Iowa, died Monday, January 18, 2021, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, Illinois.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Private burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery.

Louis was born to the union of Viola and Louis Clark Sr. in Chicago, IL on February 25, 1958. Louis had 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Louis Clark was better known by 3 other names. His nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews knew him as “Uncle Louis”. He was also known by others as “Uncle Lou” the BBQ King, and to all of his friends from Chicago that he grew up with, he will always be known as “Porky”!

Louis was never married nor had any children. He would always say his nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews were all the kids he needed.

Louis was baptized and received Christ at an early age at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Chicago. While attending high school, he was very active in football, baseball and was a member of the DJ Club, where the PPP (Possed Party People) started.

After graduating high school in June of ’77, he decided to serve his country and joined the Marine Corp in February of ’78. While living in Spain for 3 years during his term, he became very fluent in Spanish. He completed his term in February of ’82 with an honorable discharge.

After the military, Louis embarked on his love of construction and cooking. He loved to fix things which led him to work as a carpenter by trade. Louis worked in the lumber and flooring departments of many home improvement stores as well as assisted many homebuilders and rehabbers with their home improvement projects.

Louis was good at carpentry, but he LOVED Bar-B-Queing! He could smoke a mean rib! The sauce he made had people traveling from far and wide to try it because, as they said, it was “finger licking good”!

Louis will be missed by many. Louis leaves behind to celebrate his life the following: his sisters, Linda Clark (James) and Brandy Tate. His nephews and nieces; Marcus Clark (Shirma), Marlin Clark (Zhanda), Mario Cark (Denia), LaTonya Clark, LaTrice Clark, Virnita Smith, Michelle Miller (Gary), and Franika Marshall. He also leaves to celebrate his life his Godmother, Ms. Vera Thompson, as well as a host of great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Louis is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Viola Clark Sr., His 3 brothers Albert Marshall, Samuel Lee Marshall and Frank Marshall, his grandparents Albert and Pleasant Booker and Will and Olivia Silket-Clark, his nephews, Frank Marshall II., his 2 great nephews, Garry Miller Jr., Bryant Harden Jr., his great great nephew J’Quantae Riles, his great great niece Caleyah Miller, and his beloved dog “Bosco”.
