Lonny E. Ricketts

March 12, 1943 — August 3, 2015

Lonny E. "Bud" Ricketts, 72, of Davenport, Iowa, died Monday, August 3, 2015, at the Iowa City VA Medical Center.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to services.

Bud was born March 12, 1943, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Walter and Doris (Schroeder) Ricketts. He married Carol Blake on May 11, 1964, in Verona, North Carolina. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

He was a truck driver for Lafarge Cement in Buffalo, Iowa. Previously, he had worked for Grain Processing Co. and the City of Muscatine.

Bud was a member of the Buffalo VFW Post #6078. He enjoyed NASCAR and football, collecting Marine Corps items, and cooking out. He was a big fan of puzzles, particularly Thomas Kincaid; having spent numerous hours putting them together and having them mounted. He found fulfillment with these puzzles by sharing with his siblings and allowing them to each select a mounting of their choice.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, two sons, David (Crystal) Ricketts, and Michael Ricketts, all of Davenport, two granddaughters, Rachel and Shawna Ricketts, two great-grandchildren, one brother, Richard, of Davenport, five sisters, Maxine Stark and Nadine (Otis) Haskins of Muscatine, Linda Hennes (William, deceased) of Davenport, Kathleen (Bill) Tobias of Fruitland, and Georgia "Jeanne" (Jim) Bos of Midville, Utah, and a sister-in-law, Rita (Danny). He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
