Lois N. Deford

Rock Island, Illinois Lois N. DeFord, 99, formerly of Rock Island, died Tuesday, December 25, 2001, in Hallmark House, Pekin, Illinois. Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral Home, 601 21st Street, Moline. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline, or The Place On Prince, Pekin, the assisted living center where she had resided. The former Lois Nathalie Erickson was born November 27, 1902, in St. Charles, Illinois, the daughter of Claus A. and Julia (Benson) Erickson. She married Frank DeFord on October 27, 1956, in Galesburg, Illinois; he died October 26, 1957. She was payroll supervisor for Birtman Electric Company, Rock Island, for 33 years, and was later comptroller of Kraft Food Company, Milan, for several years. She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline, Semper Fidelis Circle of King's Daughters, and Republican Woman's Club. She enjoyed bowling and loved traveling all over the world. Lois is survived by special friends and caregivers, LaVonne and Donovan Gehrls of Bartonville, and their children, Cheryl Hill, Colleen Russell, Corrine Gehrls, and Curt Gehrls.
