Lois C. Roskamp, 85, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Monday, June 25, 2012, in Trinity Rock Island.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.
The former Lois Corinne Fulper was born November 19, 1926, in Kewanee, Illinois, the daughter of Dean and Bessie (Leech) Fulper. She married Hal Lester on December 7, 1945, in Elmira, Illinois. She married Gene Roskamp on February 24, 1968, in LeClaire, Iowa.
She was a licensed practical nurse, and worked in home nursing care for over 40 years. She and her husband were members of Riverside United Methodist Church for over 60 years, and she was active in United Methodist Women and a charter member of the Circle C Class. She was also a member of Eastern Star and Red Hat Society.
Lois enjoyed playing cards, especially Hand and Foot and 500, snowmobiling, and was always staying active. She mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and going out with her friends.
Lois is survived by her husband, Gene, of Rock Island; children and their spouses, Deanna Ruckdeschel and Mike Newlin of French Lick, Indiana, Robert and Sharon Lester of Rock Island, Connie and James McKelvey of Cartersville, Georgia, Jayney Roskamp of Portland, Oregon, Mike and Kimberly Roskamp of Woodland, Washington, and Janet Carner of NorthGlenn, Colorado; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a special cousin, Gennieve Rettke of Lincoln, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by sons-in-law, Kenneth McMahill and Richard Ruckdeschel.
