Linda L. Casel

Linda L. Casel, 83, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, January 23, 2023, at home.

Graveside services are 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet in the parking lot at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, at 12:45 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The former Linda Lou Hawotte was born December 27, 1939, in Moline, the daughter of Joffre and Violet (Pearson) Hawotte. She married Merle “Russ” Casel on May 9, 1956, in Moline. He died March 2, 2008.

Linda worked at J.C. Penney for over 35 years, retiring as a manager. She enjoyed vacationing with her family and collecting spoons. Above all else, her grandchildren were the most important thing to her and she loved spending time with them.

Linda is survived by two children, Michael and Lindsey Casel, both of Moline; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Dale Davidson; and nieces and nephews, Julie Blake, Joel Davidson, Rebecca Davidson, Lana Davidson, and Scott Davidson, and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merle; her son, Merle Casel, Jr.; and a nephew, Ernie Davidson.
