Laurel James Morse

Laurel James “Jim” Morse, 76, of Dubuque, Iowa, formerly of Moline and Coal Valley. Illinois, died Wednesday, November 25, 2020, in ManorCare of Dubuque.

Private family services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with The Rev. Scott Sculley officiating. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family.

Jim was born October 12, 1944, in Mineral Point, Wisconsin, to Vernon and Marie (McGraw) Morse. He married Diane Kay McPhail on October 16, 1965, in Platteville, Wisconsin. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a machinist for Quad City Die Cast for several years. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and watching sports. Jim will always be known for his wit, wisdom, humor, and sarcastic attitude.

Jim is survived by his wife, Diane; four children and spouses, Linda and Judd Poppe of Silvis, Carolyn and Jon Cole of Dubuque, Laura and Jerry Freymann of Moline, and Robert and Melissa Morse; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy Kenny and Roger Morse; and a sister-in-law, Bea Morse. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Charles and Ethel.
