Larry L. Rose

Larry L. Rose, 79, of Milan, Illinois, died Friday, November 11, 2022, at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehab, Moline, due to complications from his battle with cancer.

Private graveside services will be held at Rock Island National Cemetery. Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline, is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.

Larry Leroy Rose was born November 12, 1942, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Calvin Coolidge and Wuaneta Ella (Dewey) Rose. He earned a master’s degree from Western Illinois University and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, earning a Bronze Star. He married the love of his life, Rosalind (Fullerlove) Coster on January 2, 1998, in Davenport, Iowa.

Larry taught music and band for many years before becoming interested in the field of computers. In this field, he worked at, and retired from, the Rock Island Arsenal.

He enjoyed music, especially jazz and classical. He even played trombone and bass guitar in Ken Paulsen’s Big Band Orchestra. He loved having family over for dinners, watching the Chicago Bears, and his two dogs, Blanka and Kappa.

Larry is survived by his wife of 24 years, Rosalind; a son, Joseph Rose of Rockford, Illinois; a brother, Dr. Robert (Lynne) Rose of Springfield, Missouri; and a step-daughter, Rhonda (Ryan) Novak of Moline. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Tammy Brant and Carolyn Zimmerman.
