L. Wayne Dixon

L. Wayne Dixon, 83, of Moline died Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at River Park Healthcare, Rock Island. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM on Saturday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, with the Reverend Jan Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with a Masonic service at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Riverside Methodist Church. Louis Wayne Dixon was born on May 9, 1918 in Biggsville, IL son of Herman and Alice (Burrus) Dixon. He married Lois E. Bates on January 4, 1941 in Clinton, IA; she preceded him in death on January 12, 2002. Wayne worked for John Deere Plow & Planter as an Industrial Engineer retiring in 1981 after more than 41 years of employment. Wayne was a member of Riverside Methodist Church, United Methodist Men's Club, Doric Lodge 319 AF &AM. He enjoyed playing golf, making 4 holes-in-one, and was an avid bowler and was a past Moline City Champion. He enjoyed listening to music and was a collector of Big Band records, and volunteered his time with Junior Achievement. Wayne is survived by a son, Dennis Dixon of Moline; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Dixon of Moline; 3 granddaughters, Denise, Mary and Paula Dixon; and a sister, Eva Johnson of Stronghurst, IL. A sister, Dorothy Wilcox, preceded him in death.
