David L. Lane, 67, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, in his residence, wearing his Chicago Bears shirt.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley. Burial is in Preemption Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established later.
David Leonard Lane was born August 12, 1941, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Floyd and Mary Elizabeth (Rathbun) Lane. He graduated from Sherrard High School. He married Linda Pearson on May 20, 1961. David and Terry Ornelis Erickson were married on November 29, 1975, in Milan, Illinois. He was a heavy equipment operator, working for Mitchell Brothers Construction Company for many years. He retired from Midwest Operating Engineers Local 150 in 2001 due to illness.
He was a member of Local 150, and Pinnacle Country Club, and had belonged to the Coal Valley Jaycees. He was an avid Chicago Bears and NASCAR fan, and loved his tractors and working in the dirt.
Dave is survived by his wife, Terry; four children, Brett Lane of Coal Valley, Jeff Erickson of Sherrard, Brenda Lawton of Rock Island, and Leslie Lippens and her husband Rick of Davenport, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Cody and Colton Lane, Tayler, Hunter, and Tristan Erickson, Brian Harrison, Crystal Lobdell, and Amber Ridnour; a great-grandchild, Alexis Lobdell; a brother, Howard Lane of Milan; and a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Carm Senatra of Moline.
