Memorial Services for Betty L. Fortin, 75 of Moline, will be Friday at 10:30 AM at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Inurnment will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is Thursday from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.
Betty died on Monday, May 28, 2007 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.
Betty was born on July 7, 1931 in Etowah County, Alabama to G.E. & Henrietta Mae (Kemp) Duke. She married Alonzo. P. Fortin on December 24, 1953 in Etowah County Alabama.
Betty had been a surgical technician in Toledo Ohio, prior to being a homemaker. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed baking cookies and playing piano with her grandchildren. Her grandchildren enjoyed her treats, especially the ice cream and buttered bread. She also enjoyed rocking with her great-grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her husband, Al; a son, David (Debi) Fortin of Moline; a daughter, Cheryl (Mike) Welch of Moline; Grandchildren: Derek (Sara) Fortin, Sarah (Uriah) Thieme, Chad Tipsword, Ashley Welch and Shawn (Chrissy Graham) Welch all of Moline; Great-Grandchildren: Griffin Fortin, Noah & Micah Thieme, A.J. Welch and Gabby Graham-LeGare; Sisters: Gynevis Gregg of Alabama, Mary Ruwe of Nebraska; Sisters-in-law: Rene Duke of Alabama and Beverly Lyons of Florida; and many nieces and nephews in Ohio, Michigan, Alabama and California. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Marvin and Leon Duke and sisters: Ethel Lancaster, Francis (Tean) Shell, Martha Duke and Fay Thomas.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Illini Restorative Care for all the love and kindess during Betty?s stay.
