Coal Valley, Illinois Kristina Bowles, 59, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Monday, April 26, 2004, at home, after a long and courageous fight against cancer. Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, April 29, 2004 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Coal Valley, with Fr. Michael Schaab officiating. Burial will be in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Wednesday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or to Pathway Hospice. The former Kristina Vonderhaar was born March 7, 1945, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Gerald and Ellen (Swenson) Vonderhaar. She married Kenneth A. Bowles on December 31, 1977, in Rock Island. She was employed by Bituminous Casualty Corp., Rock Island, for 28 years, last working in February of 2004. She loved growing flowers and working outside in the yard, and especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren. Kristina is survived by her husband, Kenneth; a daughter, Kelly Kruger and granddaughter, Jennifer Stowell, of Fort Dodge, Iowa; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Dana Meyer and their children, Chloe and Quinn, of Peoria, Illinois, and Jeff and Christy Meyer and their children, Trevor and Kaitlyn, of Larned, Kansas; her mother, Ellen Vonderhaar of Silvis; sisters, Mary Farrankop of Redwood City, California, and Susan Henry and Rich Nicoletti of Lomita, California; and father-in-law, Stanley Bowles of Monmouth, IL. She was preceded in death by her father. The family would like to thank Pathway Hospice for the special care they provided for Kristina.
