Kenneth R. Herd

Kenneth R. Herd, 50, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at home.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 10, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 9619 140th Street W, Taylor Ridge, Illinois, with Rev. Matthew Hoelscher officiating. The family will greet friends at a hospitality gathering with food and drink from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at CityView Celebrations in the lower level at Trimble Pointe. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Ken’s memory.

Kenneth Raymond Herd was born August 24, 1970. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Ball State University and worked for John Deere for many years.

Ken’s children were his pride and joy. He loved spending time with them and watching their various activities like softball and wrestling. He was also an lifelong avid Chicago Cubs fan.

He is survived by his wife, Kelly, also of Coal Valley; his three beloved children, Raymond, Ainsley and Cooper Herd; his brother, Doug (Debbie) Herd of Hammond, Indiana; a niece, Alex (Adam) Oberc; in-laws, Linda and Ray Suchy of West Olive, Michigan; sister-in-law, Kim (Tim) Costello, and her children, Jack and Joe Costello, all of West Olive.
