Kenneth E. Greenwood

Kenneth E. Greenwood, 77, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, November 3, 2014, in Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral Home, 1700 1st Street, Coal Valley, Illinois, with Rev. Tim Snart and Fr. Jim DeBisschop officiating. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation (donations@michaeljfox.org) in his name.

Kenneth Eugene Greenwood was born June 27, 1937, in Moline, to William and Carrie (Hamlin) Greenwood. He was raised in Coal Valley and graduated from Moline High School. He married Joanna Meirhaeghe on September 27, 1956, in Rock Island, Illinois.

Kenny farmed for several years in Rural Township before moving to Florida and earning his real estate license. He returned to join John Deere Harvester, retiring in 1998. He enjoyed farming, fishing, and tending to his rose garden. He retained a special fondness for horses, a love he shared with his father.

Devoted to his family, Kenny is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joanna; daughters and a son-in-law, Cheryl Greenwood, Denise Greenwood, and Jill and Dan Oest; grandchildren, Riley and Kendall Oest; a sister and brother-in-law, Cleo and Bob Boens; several nieces and nephews, including, Lonie Boens, Sherri Ebelke, Mark and Beth Boens, Mike Greim, and Thomas and Barb Greenwood. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents; sisters, Donna Jean Greenwood, and Elaine and Bob Greim; and brother, William Keith Greenwood.
