Karen L. Kelting, 55, formerly of Rock Island, Illinois, and Milan, Illinois, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012, in Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel at Davenport Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend should meet at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, between 10:00 and 10:30 a.m. for a brief viewing before driving in procession to the cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hope Creek Care Center or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Karen Lynn Kelting was born July 19, 1956, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Ferdinand and Constance Anne (Kelly) Kelting.
She worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier, and also for K?nees Florist in Moline, before retiring due to disability many years ago.
Karen was an avid gardener, growing many flowers and plants from seed and propagations, always sharing her plants and seeds with other gardeners. She also loved animals, especially her beloved dog ?Suzie?, whom she found one day on her mail route, hurt and abandoned, and raised her back to health. Suzie was her faithful companion for many years to follow.
Karen is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Nancy Hyman of Long Grove, Iowa, and Eileen and Tom Yeggy of Davenport, a niece, Stephanie Rodas of Crete, Illinois, and nephews, Robert Brown, Jr. of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Shawn Hyman of Boone, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Keith Hyman.
