Joyce J. Sawyer

Joyce J. Sawyer, 85, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Sunday, December 29, 2013, in her home.

Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014, at at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Vallley, followed by a Time of Sharing and Remembrance at 5 p.m. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

The former Joyce June Wickham was born June 25, 1928, in Holt, Michigan, the daughter of Darwin Chester and Marion Margaret McElmurry Wickham. She married Robert Routt on March 7, 1947, in Lansing. Michigan. She later married Robert Lyle Sawyer on June 30, 1964, in Tawas City, Michigan. He died November 20, 1998. She was employed in the office at Ringle Express, and earlier was a dental assistant for Dr. McCarroll, and worked in the office at the John Deere Regional Office in Lansing, Michigan. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and enjoyed yardwork and flower gardening.

Joyce is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, T. Tommy Routt of Lutz, Florida, and Robert and Susan Routt of Lynn Center, Illinois; step-children and their spouses, Wayne and Barbara Sawyer of Salida, Colorado, Gary and Kay Sawyer of Charleston, South Carolina, and Lynne and Chris Carvalho of Walnut Creek, California; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two grandchildren, and brothers, Russell and Doug Wickham.
