Joseph W. Cinadr, 86, of Davenport, Iowa, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport, Iowa.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Visitation is 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.

Joseph William Cinadr was born September 29, 1926, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Joseph M. and Wilma (Lehmbeck) Cinadr. He attended grade school at St. Alphonsus, and graduated from St. Ambrose Academy.

Just before turning 18, he joined the United States Army 24th Infantry Division under Douglas McArthur and the 34th Infantry Regiment. He spent his 19th birthday on a ship to the Philippines. He served on the islands of Mikabo, Honnshu, and Shikoku in Japan. He joined the VFW immediately following his honorable discharge in January of 1947, and assisted in presenting military honors until August of 1949. He married Marilyn Hardesty on March 5, 1949, in Davenport, Iowa.

Joe worked as a bricklayer for Walsh Construction Co. in Davenport, Iowa, and assisted in the building of Alcoa. He spent a majority of his working life as a photographer, working for Mast Development Company, in Davenport.

He was an avid coin collector, enjoyed reading and photography, and was a history buff, especially of Roman and war history.

Joe is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Ron Cinadr and Linda Ponsetto-Cinadr, and
Kevin and Pam Cinadr, all of Bettendorf, Iowa; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Mike Foley of LeClaire, Iowa; granddaughters, Katie Wilson of Bettendorf, Nikki Cinadr of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sara Castillo of New York, and Christine Stobaugh of LeClaire; great-grandchildren, Taze, Krsna, Lydia, and Morrison; and a sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Dick Edens of Davenport. He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph E. Cinadr, and a special friend, Marion Norris.
