Joseph D. Hickson

September 24, 1958 — February 23, 2018

Joseph D. Hickson, 58, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Friday, February 23, 2018, at home.

At his request, there will be no services. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home.

Joe was born September 24, 1958, in Moline, the son of Jack and Elsa (Cox) Hickson. He married Darlene Kearns on May 19, 2005, in Loveland, Colorado.

He worked in maintenance for Project NOW in Rock Island, and was a mechanic at Kar Clinic in Silvis. He enjoyed playing the drums. If Joe couldn't fix it, it couldn't be fixed, as he was a jack of all trades. He loved rebuilding computers and playing games on them. He made friends wherever he went, and always had new jokes to tell. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Joe.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Darlene; children, Jessica (Robert) Campbell of Loveland, Jack (Desiree) Hickson II, of Rock Island, Elizabeth Dean of Colorado, Christopher Taylor of Delta, Colorado, and Brian Kiniston of Washington; 12 grandchildren, Julia Campbell, Jordan Daily-Hawk, Kaitlen Kiniston, Isaac Campbell, Savannah, Alayanna, and Aubrey Hickson, Jack Hickson, Jr., Benjamin Dean, Ananda Christensen, and Diana and Brianna Taylor; siblings, Al Jaros, Gail (Michael) Anderson, Thomas Hickson, Johnny (Lorrie) Hickson, Cathy (Jim) Bladel, and David Hickson; sisters-in-law, Raleen Jaros and Lana Hickson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Hickson and Elsa Tunberg, and brothers, Dennis Jaros and Steve Hixson.
