John W. Jones, 74, of Colona, Illinois, died Sunday, July 7, 2013, in Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo, Illinois.

Funeral Mass is 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Colona, Illinois. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. A Christian wake service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, followed by visitation until 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the church. Friends are invited to join the family at a funeral luncheon at CityView at Trimble Pointe following the committal service at the cemetery.

John Wilson Jones was born October 13, 1938, in Pekin, Illinois, to Frank and Martha Smith Jones. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Carolyn Anderson Anderson on February 12, 1960, in Moline, Illinois. He was Field Engineer for John Deere for 22 years, retiring in 2002.

John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn; two children and their spouses, Aaron and Julie Jones of Moline, and Linda and Ronald Brown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Kay Hanson.
