Aledo, Illinois John Maurice Weiss, 99, of Aledo, formerly of Taylor Ridge died Sunday, March 11, 2001 at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, Aledo. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 at Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo with Masonic Rites at 6:00PM. Burial will be in Edgington Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the John Maurice Weiss Memorial Fund. Mr. Weiss was born on August 6, 1901 in Edgington Township, Illinois, the son of Lawrence M. and Mary I. (Long) Weiss. He took his schooling in a one room country school called Edgington Center. He married Bertha M. Zachert on January 10, 1932 in Marston, Illinois. Besides being engaged in farming Mr. Weiss operated an auto garage-filling station, trucking business and was employed by Farmall and Pax Distributing Company. Mr. Weiss was a member of the First Baptist Church, Aledo, and 78 year member of the Andalusia Masonic Lodge #516 A.F. & A.M. He also enjoyed gardening, riding his bike, helping his neighbors and especially spending time with his family. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Keith Magalsky of Waterloo, Iowa and Rachel and Roger Birkhead of Aledo; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Teresa and Dan Walden of Batesville; Arkansas, Kevin and Marty Magalsky, Juneau, Wisconsin; Sue and Jon Nephew , St. Petersberg, Florida; Mark Magalsky, Lutz, Florida; Christine and Jon Swanson of Aledo; Cynthia and Lee Celske of Aledo; and Bradley Birkhead of Princeton, Illinois and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his only brother, Harold, one niece and 2 nephews. END OF OBITUARY
