John L. Lindburg

John Leonard Lindburg, 61, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Saturday, September 3, 2005, at home after fighting kidney cancer with great courage and dignity.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley. High Priest Ben McAdams, Moline Community of Christ, will officiate. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
John Leonard Lindburg was born April 28, 1944, in Moline, Illinois, to Joseph J. and Martha Jacobs Lindburg. He grew up in Matherville, Illinois, where he learned the masonry trade from his father as a teenager and later shared that knowledge with his friends and family. He married Beverley Rowe on December 21, 1963, in Memphis, Missouri.
He worked in Deparment 34 of the International Harvester Farmall Plant in Rock Island from 1963 until the factory closed in December, 1986. He worked briefly at the Rock Island Arsenal and for Brandt Construction before joining Bethany for Children and Families as head of maintenance, last working in May, 2005.
He loved his family, friends, fishing, barbecued ribs and knowing how things worked so he could tweak them. He could fix or build anything, including houses, cars, and computers. He was a member of Moline Community of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Beverley; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Lori Lindburg of Tallahassee, Florida; a daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Richard S. Lance II of Coal Valley; grandchildren, Cody Edwards and Samantha Edwards of Coal Valley and Lindsey Lindburg of Tallahassee; and a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph ?Butch? and Luanne Lindburg of Lancaster, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Christian Lindburg.
