John J. Peters

John J. Peters, 87, of Moline, Illinois, died Friday, August 18, 2017, in Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with The Rev. Mariah Marlin-Wakefield officiating. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, and burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery at a later date.

John Joseph Peters was born July 10, 1930, in Moline, to Joseph John and Blanch Reed Peters. He served in the U. S. Army, and married Joyce Elaine Feldhahn on August 1, 1948, in Rock Island. He was a supply systems analyst for the Army Weapons Command at the Rock Island Arsenal for 37 years, retiring in 1986. He owned and operated Pete's Appliance Service in Moline for 14 years. He was a member of Church of Peace United Church of Christ, Rock Island. He was a Master Gardener, loved flowers and plants, and enjoyed square dancing.

John is survived by his wife, Joyce; three children, Linda Breitenbucher of Davenport, Susan Eastman and her husband Jack of Geneva, New York, and Joseph A. Peters of Moline; two granddaughters, Shelly Telsrow and Tracey Westervelt; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tammy Balzer, a sister, and a half-brother.
