John H. Hawotte

Coal Valley, Illinois John H. Hawotte, 87, of Coal Valley, died Thursday, April 22, 2004, in Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley. Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, with The Reverend Tim Snart officiating. Burial is in Hampton Cemetery, where Moline American Legion Honor Guard will present military honors. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or the family. John was born July 1, 1916, in Moline, the son of Bellange and Maude (Bell) Hawotte. He married Edna G. Bond on July 29, 1949, in Moline. She died January 3, 1988. He married Mary Alice Woolley VanVooren on December 14, 1996, in Coal Valley. He was employed as truck driver and custodian for the Moline School System, retiring in 1979. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley; Silvis Masonic Lodge #898; Rose Chapter of Eastern Star, Silvis; Valley Chapter of Eastern Star, Coal Valley; and Moline American Legion Post #246. He enjoyed fishing and traveling, and had lived in California and Arizona. John is survived by his wife, Mary Alice; a son, Richard Bond of Redlands, California; a son-in-law, James Hinkle of Coal Valley; a step-son, Michael Foss Sr. of Colona; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
