John H. Daab

East Moline, Illinois John H. Daab, 88, of East Moline, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 18, 2005, in Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with Rev. Greg Javaux officiating. Burial is in National Cemetery, Rock Island, where Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to a memorial fund which will be established by his family. John Harold Daab was born December 10, 1916, in Cooperstown, Illinois, to Carl E. and Bessie (Logdson) Daab. He married Kathryn C. Pitzer on September 24, 1938, in Hannibal, Missouri. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during WW II and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries he received. He worked for the Rock Island Arsenal for 33 years, retiring as Chief of the Equipment Control Branch in 1972. After retiring, he and his wife lived in Florida for 28 years, and returned to the Quad Cities in 2001. He was a member of Sun Coast Baptist Church, New Port Richey, Florida, and National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), and enjoyed woodworking. John is survived by his wife, Kathryn; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Ernie Ballard of East Moline, and Donna and Harold Moore of Albert Lea, Minnesota; grandchildren, Todd Ballard of East Moline, Craig Moore of Mankato, Minnesota, and Benjamin Moore and his wife Robyn of Pennsylvania; and a great-grandson, Jacob Moore.
