Joan Bowling

Joan Bowling, 92, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, November 19, 2020, in Integrity Healthcare, Carbondale, Illinois.

A memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, August 9, 2021, at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Burial will follow in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Disease research.

The former Joan Clodfelter was born August 21, 1928, in Sublette, Illinois, to Robert and Beulah (Osborn) Clodfelter. She married Harry R. Bowling on April 17, 1948, in Davenport, Iowa. He died September 19, 1993. Joan was church secretary and office manager at the former First United Methodist Church, Moline for 27 years. She previously worked at Montgomery Elevator Company and Timken Roller Bearing Company. She was a long-time member of Salem Lutheran Church, Moline, where she taught Sunday school for 15 years, was a Stephen Minister, and involved in the Evergreens Group. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, a Cub Scout Den Mother, had been president of PTA at Grant School and Coolidge Junior High School, and was a former member of Zeta Rho Sorority. She loved baking, and enjoyed ceramics, music and local sports.

Joan is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Richard Brzoznowski of Carbondale; three granddaughters, Julie Brown and her husband Michael, Amy Mings and her husband Jonathan, and Sarah Brzoznowski and her partner Zachary Zimmerman; six great-grandchildren; and two nieces and a nephew and their spouses, Lorraine and Jack Scherf, Karen and Lamar Bowman, and John and Ann Race. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; her son, Bruce Bowling, a sister, Barbara Fitch; and brothers, Bob, Roland, and Don Clodfelter.
