Jesus Garcia Rosendo

Jesus Garcia Rosendo, 69, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, January 4, 2016, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 1:00 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline. A rosary is 3:30 p.m. Friday, followed by visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home, with a hospitality gathering concurrently in the lounge at CityView Celebrations, both at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory following services. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Jesus' memory.

Jesus was born June 29, 1946, in Salvatierra, Guanajuato, Mexico, the son of Jesus Ortiz Rosendo and Margarita Garcia Garcia. He married Gema Campos on October 28, 1966.

In his early years, Jesus was a bus driver for Flecha Amarilla in Mexico. He moved to California, where he owned and operated Jesse's Radiator Shop. After moving to Moline, he worked for several companies, including Xpac and Proctor and Gamble.

Jesus was a semi-professional boxer in Mexico, and after moving to California, he won several titles with the Rookies baseball team. With his father, he was a member of Los Zorros in Mexico. He enjoyed dancing, and watching soccer, boxing, and baseball. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family, hosting cookouts and family gatherings.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Gema, of Moline, five children and their spouses, Jesus Campos Rosendo and Elizabeth Campos of Las Vegas, Nevada, Alejandra Rosendo and Ruben Garcia, of Omaha, Nebraska, Juan Carlos Rosendo of Moline, Gema and Ricardo Garcia, of Moline, and Norma and Armando Calderon of Rock Island, 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, five brothers, two sisters, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
