Jeannette Y. Beechum

Jeannette Y. Beechum, 87, of Davenport, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at St. Mary's Healthcare, Davenport.

Graveside services are 12:30 p.m. Monday at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are to meet in the parking lot of Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, at 12:15 p.m. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.

The former Jeannette Yvonne McKee was born September 1, 1931, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of William Ty and Eva McKee. She married Ellis William Beechum in 1965. He died November 20, 1991.

Jeannette worked as a housekeeper throughout the Quad Cities for many years. She was a member of Third Missionary Baptist Church in Davenport. She enjoyed music, bowling, cooking, and an occasional cocktail. She loved being around people and her door was open to everyone. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Jeannette.

She is survived by several grandchildren, including Leonard and Michael Harvey, both of Davenport; a son, Larry Beechum; many great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Wilma Drummond; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband; her father and stepmother, William and Laverne McKee; her mother and stepfather, Eva and Raymond Carter; sons, Robert Harvey and Leonard Harvey, Sr., and Mark and Charles Beechum; and two brothers.
