Jean Carol Sztajer, 69, of Rapids City, Illinois, died at her daughter's home in Coal Valley, Illinois, on Wednesday, November 6th, 2012, after a battle with early on-set Alzheimer's

Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley. A private family burial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Seton Catholic School, Moline, or The Alzheimer's Association in Jean's name.

Jean was born on July 21, 1944, in Barrington Illinois, the daughter of Eugene and Carol Johnson Kampert. She spent her life teaching, first at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, then for 25 years at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. Jean was also a Recruiter for McGladrey, Hendrickson and Pullen and belonged to many professional organizations. Her life was dedicated to helping others and she was very proud of all of her students.

Jean's family felt honored to care for her and would like to give special thanks to: Carlos Polit, Wayne Bertelsen Jr., Katherine Polit, Matthew Polit, Judy Polit, Richard Sztajer, Clark Stojan, Wendy Brees, Dee Nelson, Travis and Jerica Ortberg and Family, Arthur Winstein, Jeanine Howard, Mary Garcia, Shannon Fry, Krissy Zechmann, Chaplin Don Johnston, Dr. Mark Hermanson, Dr. Rodney Short, Jason Dunnett, Beverly Lam, Home In Stead Senior Care, Beacon of Hope Hospice and Alternatives for the Older Adult for making Jean's life one of fun, laughter, and a celebration in the Holy Spirit.

Survivors include her dedicated and loving Husband of 28 years George Sztajer; two sons, Sean of Palatine, Illinois and Bret of Charleston, South Carolina; a daughter and son-in-law, Sivi Ann and Carlos Polit of Coal Valley; six grandchildren, Thomas, Abigail, and Ella of Charleston, South Carolina, and Wayne, Katie, and Matthew of Coal Valley; and her father-in-law, Richard Sztajer of Coal Valley She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Carol, her brother James, her mother in law Wieslawa Sztajer, and her ex-husband David Johnson.

Jean was the perfect example of an Angel on Earth. A perfect Daughter, Wife, Mother and Friend, she will be missed daily by those whose life she touched.
