James L. Elhoffer

James L. Elhoffer, 93, of East Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, November 21, 2020, in his home at Park Vista Retirement Living.

Private services will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline, with The Rev. Dr. Wilfred Karsten officiating. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is serving the family.

James Leonard Elhoffer was born May 4, 1927, in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Francis and Martha (Lawson) Elhoffer. He married Harriet Elaine Oltmanns on May 15, 1949, in Sterling, Illinois. She died November 28, 2017. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, enjoyed golfing, poker, and basketball (He was a basketball referee for many years), and especially loved dinners with his children, grandchildren and friends.

Jim is survived by three daughters and spouses, Laurel and Michael Gray of Rock Island, Illinois, Nancy and John Stewart and Beth Laughead, all of Moline; seven grandchildren and spouses, Eric and Michelle Stewart, Gregory and Alyson Stewart, Diane and Stephen Macrowski, Jeffrey Stewart, Julie and Matt Erickson, Lucas and Leigh Gray, and Michaela Gray; and five great-grandchildren, Reagan, Carter, Emily, and Claudia Stewart, and Natalie Macrowski. He was preceded in death by his wife and two sisters, Doris Webb and Betty Hays.
