Port Byron, Illinois James E. Vermeire, 67, of Port Byron, Illinois, died Sunday, April 11, 2004, in Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday at Sycamore Baptist Church, East Moline, Illinois with the Reverend Gordon Taylor officiating, with burial following in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Memorials may be given to the church. James Edmond Vermeire was born March 2, 1937 in Moline the son of Emiel and Nellie (Moody) Vermeire. He was employed as a tool & die maker at IH Case in East Moline for over 32 years. James will be remembered for his ability and love of machining, fabricating, and building hotrods in his own shop. He was a lifetime member of the National Street Rod Association. Survivors include his two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jason Vermeire of Erie, Illinois, and James "Jamey" and Jannette Vermeire of Hillsdale, Illinois, two daughters and a son-in-law, Karry Ann and Joe McKlem of Pittsburg, Kansas, and Kim Brown of Branson, Missouri, eight grandchildren, Shawn and Amanda Vermeire, both of Moline, Jarred Vermeire of Gatesville, Texas, Anna Vermeire of Hillsdale, IL, Jacob and Jessica Vermeire, both of Erie, IL, and Gabrielle and Robert Brown, both of Branson, MO, and two great-grandsons, Chance Brown and Kenny Niner, both of Branson, MO, a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Cliff Quick of Moline, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom and Pat Vermeire of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and Bob and Marlys Vermeire of Geneseo, Illinois, and his fiancée, Barbara Sidwell of Davenport, Iowa.
