James A. McKee, 69, of Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Peoria, Illinois.

Services are 5:00 p.m. Sunday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Visitation is 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday. Private burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Quad Cities Wood Turners Club.

James Aaron McKee was born February 26, 1944, in Moline, the son of Aaron David "Mike" and Mary Jeanne (Eddy) McKee. He married Carole Poell in September of 1967. The couple was later divorced. He married Jenean Ledford on August 25, 1990, in Moline. She died in October 22, 1999.

Jim owned and operated Holders Gallery in Moline and then Bettendorf, Iowa, and then McKee Construction until he retired in 2003.

He was a member of the Quad Cities Wood Turners Club and the Professional Picture Framers Association (PPFA). After retiring, he remained active, continuing to do projects for friends and family and woodworking in his garage. He was a wealth of knowledge, figuring out ways to fix anything. He enjoyed watching home improvement shows. Above all else, Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Jim is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Adam Almanza of East Moline, Illinois; a son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Lynnette McKee of Knoxville, Illinois; grandchildren, Isaac and Madalynn Almanza, Patrick ("Bob" to his grandfather) Hayes, and Addison and Zachary McKee; a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Martha McKee of Moline; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
