Helen T. Bogdan

East Moline, Illinois Helen T. Bogdan, 81, of East Moline, died Friday, October 1, 2004, in her home. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church, where she was a member. The former Helen Theresa Stergulc was born August 28, 1923, in Recklinghausen, Germany, the daughter of Michael and Johanna (Slim) Stergulc. She married Alex Bogdan on October 25, 1946, in Recklinghausen. He died June 14, 1998. During WW II, Helen was conscripted into the German Air Force, where she did office work. The couple came to the United States in 1951. She enjoyed crafts, playing cards, bowling, and swimming, and maintained many close friendships. Helen is survived by three children and their spouses, Nora and Harry Clark of DeKalb, Illinois, John and Dawn Bogdan of East Moline, and Mary Ann and Doug Emory of Ellijay, Georgia; a grandson, Jacob John Bogdan; a step-granddaughter, Anna Jo Wigant; a sister, Inge Heinrich, and a brother and sister-in-law, Alfons and Jenny Stergulc, all of Germany.
