Helen J. Dykeman

Helen J. Dykeman, 65, of Moline, Illinois, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Visitation is 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church or Quad City Animal Welfare Center.

The former Helen Jean Eddingfield was born March 14, 1953, in Blue Island, Illinois, to Russell Dale and Shirley (Bistline) Eddingfield. She grew up in Swedona, Illinois, and graduated from Sherrard High School in 1971. She married Bradford D. Dykeman on May 23, 1981, in Rock Island, Illinois. He died July 19, 2015.

She worked as a cocktail waitress for several area restaurants, including the Sweetwater in Moline. She was a data processor on the Rock Island Arsenal for many years. After leaving the Arsenal, she worked at Reynolds Manufacturing, and worked/attended Kaplan College.

She became involved in Edgewood Baptist Church after her husband died. She enjoyed gardening, and her four-legged friends, Champ, Nala and Sugar. Above all else, family and friends were important to Helen, and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Helen is survived by five children, Joel and Julie Dykeman of Galva, Chris and Julie Ruff of Moline, Chuck Ruff of East Moline, Kyle Dykeman of Moline, and Kayla Dykeman of Bettendorf; grandchildren, Amanda Dykeman, Jerry (Courtney) Wilson, Beca and Terry Ruff, Braden Hathaway, and Cora and Carter Dykeman; great-grandchildren, Destiney Fuller, Alicia and Sierra Sibley, Kaylee Morrison, and Brycen and Bennett Wilson; siblings, Michael Eddingfield, Nancy (Gene) Hollett of East Moline, Sally (Jeff) Ortiz of Bettendorf, Patrick Eddingfield of Iowa City, Thomas Eddingfield of Hull, Illinois, Frederick Eddingfield of Louisville, Kentucky, and Betsey (Timothy) Wassell of East Moline; and many nieces and nephews.
