Helen I. Peterson

Helen I. Peterson, 89, of East Moline, Illinois, died Friday, October 10, 2014, in UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.

Services are 3 p.m. Monday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Entombment is in Greenview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is from 1 p.m to service time Monday. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation. Friends are invited to join Helen's family at a funeral dinner at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe following the entombment.

The former Helen Irene Beckwith was born November 8, 1924, in Appleton, Minnesota, to Oscar and Elmina Terry Beckwith. She married Palmer Peterson in 1943, in Menomonee, Wisconsin, and they later divorced. She was a contract packer for Allied Van Lines for eight years, and for Bill's Moving and Storage for 18 years. She enjoyed her grandchildren and family, and gardening and ceramics.

Helen is survived by six children and their spouses, Vicki Lamberson of Rock Island, Ron Peterson of Hillsdale, Illinois, Tom and Carolyn Peterson of Rapids City, Illinois, Randy and Pat Peterson of Justin, Texas, Cindi and Bud Johnston of Moline, and Joann and Randy Hill of Moline; a daughter-in-law, Diane Peterson of Glenford, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Irv Schlimmer of East Moline. She was preceded in death by a son, Don Peterson; a son-in-law, Bob Lamberson; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Brathall, Evelyn Heinrich and Edna Patrick; and brothers, Ivan, Alfred, Harold, Howard, and Oscar "Ike" Beckwith.
